whenever and wherever they may, in their judgment, deem it
necessary.
371. The said night schools, wherever established, shall be
held in the same school houses that are now used or shall be
used for the day schools of Baltimore county, and the same
by-laws and regulations governing the said day schools shall
also apply to said night schools as far as practicable.
372. The expense of conducting said night schools shall be
defrayed in the same manner as that of the day schools of said
county.
373. The Board of County School Commissioners of Balti-
more county shall make payment of the annual salaries of the
public school teachers of said county in eight instalments; two
of said instalments or payments to be made each term, one at
or near the middle thereof and the other when the quarterly
report, properly filled up and completed, shall be returned.
374. The County Commissioners of said county shall pay
over to the treasurer of the said Board of County School Com-
missioners of Baltimore county, upon the order of the said
board, the taxes levied and collected for school purposes in said
county, at such times and in such amount as shall be neces-
sary; provided, the collections from the school levy shall be
sufficient for said purpose, and when there are not sufficient
funds on hand from the school levy the said Commissioners, at
their discretion, are authorized to advance a sufficient sum to
supply such deficiency from any other funds not immediately
demandable for other county purposes.
375. The Board of County School Commissioners of Balti-
more county may establish kindergarten schools in said county,
wherever and whenever they may in their judgment deem it nec-
essary, and subject to such regulations as they may establish,
the expense of conducting such kindergarten schools to be de-
frayed in the same manner as the other public schools of said
county.
376. The County Commissioners shall make the annual levy
for the support of the public schools, in two specific sums, of
which one shall be apportioned and used for the current ex-
penses of the public schools, and the other for the building of
new school houses, and for no other purpose whatever.
377. The sheriff of Baltimore county shall receive an annual
salary of three thousand dollars, to be paid to him in monthly
instalments of two hundred and fifty dollars by the County
Commissioners of Baltimore county; and he shall be allowed
the sum of four thousand dollars annually, to be paid to him by
