SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the Board of Directors for
Allegany county are hereby authorized and empowered to
acquire by purchase, all land and materials necessary for the
construction of the said bridge and its abutments.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the said bridge shall be
built during the summer of 1908 in the most secure and sub-
stantial manner possible worth the fund mentioned, and shall
not be less than sixteen feet wide, with railing on each side
thereof not less than four feet high.
SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the said Road Directors for
Allegany County shall keep in repair and maintain the said
bridge, paying for said repair and maintenance out of the
general road fund of Allegany county.
SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That if there shall be any surplus-
left over after the said bridge is built from the said fourteen,
thousand dollars, the said Road Directors for Allegany county
shall return the same to the County Commissioners for Alle-
gany county.
SEC 6. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 688.
AN ACT to increase the salaries of the public school teachers
of Allegany county and to provide for the payment of said
increase.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the County School Commissioners of Allegany
county be and they are hereby authorized and directed to
increase by the amount of ten per cent, the aggregate amount of
money by said Board appropriated to the payment of salaries
of school teachers in said county, and the said Board is hereby
vested with a discretion to apportion such increase of salary
among the several classes of school teachers in a ratio which
to said Board may seem just, awarding the larger percentage
of increase to those who receive the lowest salaries. The
County Commissioners of Allegany county are hereby author-
ized and directed to levy on the assessable property of Alle-
gany county a sum sufficient to cover the increase of salaries
