278 LAWS OF MARYLAND.

MILITIA.

For the support of the organized militia of the State to be
distributed, applied and expended under the supervision of the
Governor and Commander-in-Chief in accordance with the Acts
of Assembly in such case made and provided, the following
sums, or so much thereof as may be necessary, are appropri-
ated; for the contingent and necessary expenses of the Adju-
tant General's office and for the maintenance, equipment and
discipline of the land force of the militia, duly organized as
prescribed by said Acts of Assembly, the sum of seventy thou-
sand dollars; for the maintenance, equipment and discipline
of the first naval battalion, duly organized as prescribed by
said Acts of Assembly, the sum of ten thousand dollars; to the
trustees of the Fifth Regiment Armory, eight thousand seven
hundred dollars, for repairing and painting the said Fifth
Regiment Armory.

REFORMATORY AND OTHER INSTITUTIONS.

To the Maryland House of Correction, for the support of the
institution, thirty thousand dollar's, together with the further
sum of sixteen thousand nine hundred dollars to erect a water
plant at said institution; to the Maryland School for Boys,
twenty thousand dollars, together with the further sum of
twelve thousand five hundred dollars for buildings; to the
Female House of Refuge, five thousand dollars, together with
the further sum of four thousand dollars in liquidating the
mortgage upon said institution; to the House of Reformation
and Instruction for Colored Children, the sum of fifteen thou-
sand dollars; to the Managers of the Maryland Hospital for
the Insane, for maintenance and insurance, forty-one thousand
dollars; to the Deaf and Dumb Asylum at Frederick, for the
education of deaf and dumb, thirty-five thousand dollars; to
the Maryland School for the Blind, for the education of the
deaf and dumb and blind colored children of the State, ten
thousand dollars, together with the further sum of ten thou-
sand dollars for improvements; to the Maryland Asylum and
Training School for the Feeble Minded, the sum of thirty
thousand dollars for the maintenance of said asylum, together
with the further sum of fifteen thousand dollars for build-
ings; to the Springfield State Hospital for the Insane of the
State of Maryland, the sum of sixty thousand dollars for main-
tenance, fifteen hundred dollars for insurance, six thousand
dollars for sewers, fifty thousand dollars for new buildings,
and the further sum of thirty-seven thousand five hundred dol-
lars to complete the railroad to said institution.
