upon the pledge or security of any stock, bonds, notes or
other choses in action, claims, of any instrument of writing,
or any other lawful securities whatever.
SEC. 11. And be it further enacted, That said company may
make and may procure copies and abstracts from the public
records of the State of Maryland and gather information
therefrom and from other sources, relating to conveyance of
property, real and leasehold; make indexes of all deeds, mort-
gages, judgments, decrees and other records within this State;
make, procure and furnish plats and other matters relating to
property; examine the titles to property, give certificates of
same and guarantee or insure owners and mortgagees of prop-
erty, real or leasehold, against loss by reason of defective
title, liens or other encumbrances.
SEC. 12. And be it further enacted, That the principal office
of said company shall be located in Frederick, Frederick
county, Maryland.
SEC. 13. And be it enacted, That the said corporation shall
be subject to the provisions of chapter one hundred and nine of
'the Acts of eighteen hundred and ninety-two, as amended by
chapter 160 of the Acts of 1896, and of chapter 279 of the
Acts of 1892, and of all General Laws applicable to asso-
ciations by nature similar to that mentioned in this Act.
SEC. 14. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 713.
AN ACT to pay the Thomas & Evans Printing Company of
Baltimore city the sum of three hundred and forty-one dol-
lars and nineteen cents, being balance due for printing done
for the State Board of Education of Maryland.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Treasurer of the State, upon warrant of the
Comptroller, is hereby authorized and directed to pay to the
Thomas & Evans Printing Company of Baltimore city the
sum of three hundred and forty-one dollars and nineteen cents
($341.19), being balance due for printing done for the State
Board of Education for Maryland.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
