appointment of commissioners for the promotion of unifor-
mity of legislation in the United States, " as extended and
continued in force by the Act of 1900, Chapter 194, and to
authorize the appointment and continuance of commissioners
thereunder and to appropriate the sum of seven hundred
and fifty dollars -annually for the expenses of said com-
missioners.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the terms, force and effect of the Act of 1896, Chap-
ter 264, entitled "An Act to provide for the appointment of
commissioners for the promotion of uniformity of legislation
in the United States, " be and the same are hereby extended
and continued, and the Governor is hereby authorized and
directed to appoint three commissioners hereunder as author-
ized by said Act, in place of the original commissioners hereto-
fore appointed thereunder, and to fill vacancies and reappoint
from time to time, as may in his judgment be necessary to
carry out the purposes of said Act and this extension thereof,
and the duties of the said commissioners shall be as set forth in
said original Act.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That such commissioners shall
hold office for a term not exceeding four years. No member of
said board shall receive any compensation for his services as
commissioner, but each commissioner shall be entitled to re-
ceive his actual disbursements for his expenses in performing
the duties of his office. In case any of the persons appointed
as above will not undertake the office of this commission, or
in case of a vacancy on said board, such vacancy shall be filled
by the Governor.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That said board may employ such
persons and incur such expenses as may be necessary in the
performance of their duties; but the total annual expense of
said board shall not exceed the sum of seven hundred and fifty
dollars.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted. That the sum of fifteen hundred
dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary, payable out
of any moneys in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, is
hereby appropriated, subject to the audit of the Comptroller,
to carry out the provisions of this Act, and the same shall be
payable by the Comptroller to the said commissioners.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That said board may, out of its
annual appropriation, contribute to the expenses of the con-
ference of the commissioners from the various States, such sum
as they may think proper, exceeding two hundred and fifty dol-
lars a year.
