may be delegated to it; they shall annually -elect from their
number a vice-president, a secretary and a treasurer, and may
elect one person as secretary and treasurer, and may at any
time appoint such agents as may be necessary.
SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the said District Conference
of the Baltimore District may make such by-laws not incon-
sistent with the laws of this State or this charter, as may be
necessary for the proper conduct of the affairs of said corpora-
tion.
SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That a copy of this charter and
of the by-laws adopted as above set out, together with the
record of all proceedings of the said board of trustees, shall be
kept in a substantial book, which book and records shall be
annually produced to the said District Conference for inspec-
tion and control.
SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That the said corporation shall be
capable of acquiring, purchasing and taking by gift, grant,
devise, bequest or otherwise, absolutely, in fee simple, in trust
or in perpetuity, and of holding, improving, selling, leasing
(as lessor or lessee) or otherwise disposing of such real and
personal property and estate for the uses, objects and purposes
of said corporation as may be necessary or proper to carry out
the objects of said corporation, and to sell, transfer, assign
and dispose of any and all such property and securities so re-
ceived by it as may, in the judgment of said trustees, best
serve .the interests and accomplish the objects of said cor-
poration.
SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That the real and personal prop-
erty so authorized to be held and held by said corporation shall
be exempt from all State, county and municipal taxes so long
as the same shall be held and used for the purposes aforesaid.
SEC. 10. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

AN ACT to amend the charter of The Proctor Slate Company
of Harford County, a corporation duly organized under the
General Laws of this State, and to enlarge its powers.
Whereas The Proctor Slate Company of Harford County,
Maryland, was heretofore, on the twenty-seventh day of Sep-
tember, 1899, duly organized under the General Laws of this
