1424 LAWS OF MARYLAND.

construct, build or purchase and operate lines of wire, tubes,
posts, conductors and conduits along, under and upon the
streets, squares, lanes, alleys, roads or ways whatsoever in
said county, or in any cit.y or town therein within fifteen
miles of said railroad; provided, permission be first obtained
from the Board of County Commissioners, and if in any
town, then the permission of the Town Commissioners, when
such exist, but the consent of the owner or owners of such
property shall be first had and obtained, unless the same
shall be condemned according to law, and shall have power
to connect the same with any manufactory, public or pri-
vate building, or other structure or object, car or convey-
ance, and in general manufacture, sell, furnish and supply
electric lights and electric power or stored electricity or
electric machinery and supplies for any and all purposes
that may be desired or required, within the limits afore-
said; and the said corporation shall also have the power tc
erect, construct, build and maintain such bridge or bridges
over any river or streams of water in said limits, as the direc-
tors of said corporation may deem necessary for the use& and
purposes of said railway, and to use the necessary means to
accomplish all the purposes of said corporation; provided, pei-
mission is first granted by the Board of County Commis-
sioners of said county, to use the roads, streets or other public
property proposed to be taken, and by the Town Commission-
ers in the various incorporated towns, and by the City Council
and Mayor of Salisbury, in said county.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the capital stock of the said
corporation shall be two hundred thousand dollars, divided
into four hundred shares, of the par value of fifty dollars each;
and the directors of said corporation, for the purpose of com-
pleting and fully equipping the railway hereinbefore men-
tioned, may issue from time to time mortgage bonds to the
amount sufficient, in the judgment of said directors, to com
p.lete and fully equip said railway, not exceeding five hundred
thousand dollars, and to secure the payment of such bonds by
mortgage of all or any part of the property, rights, franchises
and revenues of said corporation.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That all the interest and affairs
of said corporation shall be controlled and managed by the
persons particularly named in the first section of this Act, or
such of them as shall accept office as the board of directors of
said company, for and during the first year after the passage
of this Act, and until their successors as such board shall
have been duly elected and qualified, pursuant to the by-laws
and regulations which shall be established by such board, and
