freight on said railroad and its connections, and to charge such
rates as compensation therefor as the board of directors may
from time to time determine; provided, such rate does not
exceed that now charged by other similar corporations in the
State for such services.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the said corporation shall
have power to issue its bonds or obligations payable with in-
terest at such time or times and in such amounts as the board
of directors may appoint, and to sell and dispose of the same,
and to secure the payment thereof by deed of trust or mort-
gage, of all or any part of the property, rights, franchises,
tolls and revenues of said company.
SEC. 5. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 549.
AN ACT to authorize and empower the County Commissioners
of Washington county to sell, grant and convey in fee simple
a small tract of land in Election District No. 23 of Washing-
ton county, Maryland.
Whereas the Conococheaque Union Sunday-School of Wash-
ington county, a body corporate, is located in Election District
No. 23 of Washington county, Maryland; and
Whereas there being no meeting or assembly room of said
body corporate, and for the convenience and benefit of the pub-
lic, it is desired by the managers of said body corporate to
build a chapel or hall, and to enable it to do so with security,
it is necessary for said body corporate to acquire the title to
the necessary land required for the purposes of building the
aforesaid chapel or hall;
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the County Commissioners of Washington county be
and they are hereby authorized and empowered to sell, grant
and convey in fee simple a certain tract or parcel of land
situate and lying on the south side of the public road leading
from Hagerstown to Clear Spring, and on the west side of the
Conocpcheaque Creek, being of a tract of land conveyed by John
H. Wilson and wife to Washington county.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.
