Council, specifying particularly how the said vote shall be
taken, whether for a bond issue for water supply and light-
ing plant, electric, gas or otherwise, or for a water supply
alone, or for a lighting plant, electric, gas or otherwise, alone,
and by such other notice as the said Mayor and Council may
deem necessary and proper.
48M. If the said Mayor and Council should not order such
vote to be taken at the election mentioned, then the Mayor and
Council or their successors elected under the provisions of this
Act may at any time after the said election so to be held on
the first M"onday of May, 1908, in their discretion, order and
direct that such vote be taken, either at any regular election
thereafter or at a special election to be held for that purpose,
and if such vote should be ordered to be taken by the Mayor and
Council at any special election, then the notice hereinbefore
required to be given shall be given thirty days prior to said
special election in lieu of the two weeks' notice required if such
vote be taken at a regular election, and such special election
officials shall be appointed and qualify in the same manner
as hereinbefore provided for the officials of a regular election
for Mayor and Council, and such special election shall be
conducted in the same manner and under the same rules as
the regular election hereinbefore provided for, and the qualifi-
cations to vote on such question shall be the same as herein-
before provided for elections for Mayor and Council, and offen-
ses shall be defined and punished as hereinbefore provided for
offenses in connection with the regular elections aforesaid.
48N. If in pursuance of the preceding sections the Mayor
and Council shall order a vote on the question of a bond issue
for a water supply and a lighting plant, electric, gas or other-
wise, the ballots shall have printed on them the words "for the
issue of water and lighting bonds," and "against the issue of
water and lighting bonds." If the Mayor and Council aforesaid
shall order said vote to be taken on the question of the issue
of bonds for a water supply alone, then the said ballots shall
have printed on them the words "for the issue of water bonds,"
and "against the issue of water bonds," and if the said Mayor
and Council shall order a vote to be taken on the question of
a lighting plant alone, then the ballots shall have printed on
them the words "for the issue of light bonds," and "against the
issue of light bonds." The ballots to be cast on the question of
the issuing of any such bonds shall be separate and distinct
from the ballots to be cast for the Mayor and Council, and
shall be printed under the supervision of the Mayor and Coun-
cil, and the expense thereof shall be paid out of the treasury of
