LAWS OF MARYLAND.

Council of Mt. Airy now in office tinder the provisions of the
said sections repealed, shall remain in office with full authority
to assert, prosecute and defend all such pending rights, suits,
claims, demands, contracts or obligations, and to exercise all
the powers and duties of Mayor and Council until their succes-
sors are elected and qualified as provided by this Act, and with
full power to collect all taxes heretofore assessed and levied
within the taxable limits of said corporation and remaining
unpaid at the time of the passage of this Act.

Effective.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted. That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 372.
AN ACT supplementary to Chapter 275 of the Acts of the
General Assembly of Maryland of 1896, entitled "An Act
to provide for the building and furnishing of a public school
building in the City of Annapolis, etc," and to provide for
the completion of the public school building authorized and
directed to be built by said Chapter 275, by the erection
and furnishing of additional rooms to said building ; and to
authorize and require the Board of School Commissioners of
Anne Arundel County to borrow money on the credit of
said County, and the Mayor, Counsellor and Aldermen of the
city of Annapolis to borrow on the credit of said city, or
otherwise provide money for the purpose of erecting and
furnishing such additional rooms to said school building; and
for the further purpose of paying to the Hudson Furniture
Company of Athens, Ohio, the sum of two thousand dollars
for school furniture supplied to said school building, and for
the further purpose of paying to Walter H. Schaeffer and
Lena Strohm the salary due them ae teachers in said public
school in the city of Annapolis for the session ending June
30th, 1898, and to establish a high school in said city.
SECTION 1. And be it enacted by ike General Assembly of
Maryland, That Samuel Jones, F. Eugene Wathen, Frank H.

Building
committee.

Stockett, Frank B. Meyer, John H. Hopkins and James W.
Cain, of Anne Arundel county, Maryland, be and they are
hereby constituted a building committee for the purpose of
erecting additional rooms to complete the public school building
