AN ACT making appropriation for a sum of money to
defray the expenses of the Bureau of Immigration for the
years 1896-1897.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Comptroller of the Treasury be and he is

hereby authorized and directed to issue his warrant upon the
Treasurer of the State, in favor of the Bureau of Immigra-
tion for the sum of tive hundred dollars ($500.00,) to be paid
out of any money not otherwise appropriated, said sum to be
applied to the payment of the expenses of said Bureau of
Immigration during the years 1896-1897.

CHAPTER 301.
AN ACT to further amend the charter of the Baltimore
Northern Railroad Company.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the proviso in Section three of Chapter two hun-
dred and seventy of the laws of Maryland, 1894, limiting the

time for beginning and completing the road of the Baltimore
Northern Railroad Company, be and the same is hereby
repealed, and the name of said railroad company is hereby
changed to Baltimore and Harford Railroad Company, and said
company is hereby further authorized and empowered to deter-
mine the location of its railroad or railroads, and thereon to
construct and operate the same, and to use electricity as a
motive power; provided, that nothing herein contained shall be
construed to empower said company to construct or operate
any railroad or railroads within the city of Baltimore without
first obtaining the consent of the Mayor and City Council of
Baltimore.
