the aforesaid railroad, (22d) north sixty-four and one-fourth
degrees, east twenty-three and three-fifths perches, (23d) north
fifty-two and three-fourths degrees, east ten and three fifths
perches, (24th) north twenty-five and one-half degrees, east one
hundred and twenty-four and one-fifth perches, (25th) north
forty-two and tbree fourths degrees, west thirty-three and four-
fifths perches, (26th) north twenty-eight and one-half degrees,
west sixty five and one-half perches, then north twenty-four
and one half degrees, east twenty-six perches to the place of
beginning as shown by a map now of record in the office of
the clerk of the Circuit Court for Garrett county. Said map
or a copy properly certified by the clerk under the seal of his
office shall be evidence. The Mayor and Town Council shall
have power to extend the limits of said town not exceeding
one-half mile from its present limits, when in their discretion
they may deem proper to do so.

170. The inhabitants of the town of Oakland who have
resided therein for six months next preceding any municipal
election and who are qualified to vote for members of the
General Assembly of Maryland shall, on the second Monday

day in every second year thereafter elect, by ballot, one person
to be Mayor of said town, and the said voters qualified as
aforesaid shall, on the second Monday in March, eighteen hun-
dred and ninety-eight, and on the same day in every year there-
after elect three persons to be members of the town council,
and the members of the town council who have been elected
and are now in office shall hold their office until the term for
which they have been elected shall have expired and until their
successors are elected and qualified.

171. No person shall be eligible to the office of Mayor
unless he shall have attained the age of thirty years, and shall
have resided two years next preceding his election in said town,
and shall be a freeholder in said town of Oakland. The Mayor

elected at any regular election shall hold office for two years
from the first Monday in April next after his election and
until after his successor is elected and qualified. Should a
vacancy occur in the office of Mayor by reason of removal
from the town, removal from office, death, resignation or other-
wise, the president of the council shall perform all the duties
of Mayor and act as such until the next general election of the
Mayor and Town Council. Wilful neglect of duty or misbe-
havior in office on the part of the Mayor is hereby declared a
