may be desired, and to contract for and to furnish electric light
for lighting the streets, wards, public Or private buildings in
that part of Baltimore county lying east of the line of North
Point road in said county, and of any city or town situated or
located in that part of said county, and for motive power and
other purposes ; and the said corporation is hereby authorized
and empowered, with the consent of the County Commissioners
of Baltimore county, to lay, purchase, construct or build lines
and, conductors and conduits under, along, upon or over the
streets, squares, lanes, alleys, roads or ways whatsoever, in said
portion of said county lying east of said North Point road, or
any city or town located in that part of said county, and over,
under or along any private property in said county, the consent
of the owner or owners thereof being first had and obtained,
and to connect the same with any manufactory, public or
private building, in that part of Baltimore county east of the
line of the North Point road aforesaid, lamp or other structure
or object, car or conveyance, and in general to manufacture,
sell, furnish or supply electric light and electric power or
stored electricity for any and all purposes that may be desired
or required, and use all means necessary to the exercise of the
powers hereby granted.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted. That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 282.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Sections
six, eight and eleven of the Act of 1896, Chapter 295, in
relation to the "Establishing of a Bureau of Immigration in
and for the State of Maryland," and to add a new section
thereto, to be designated as Section 13.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That sections six, eight and eleven of the Act of 1896,

chapter 295, relating to establishing a Bureau of Immigration
in and for the State of Maryland, be and the same are hereby
repealed and re-enacted with amendments and that a new sec-
tion be added to section 13, and to read as to said several sec-
tions as follows :
6. Be it further enacted, That the said Board of Immigra-
tion Commissioners shall appoint a secretary, who shall be a
person of good address and conversant with English, the
