SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the Comptroller of the
Treasury be and he is hereby authorized and empowered to

pay over unto the trustees of Fairmount Academy, herein
incorporated, all moneys, funds, donations or appropriations
that the trustees of Fairmount Academy, or Fairmount Academy
may now or hereafter have or be entitled to under or by virtue
of any Acts or resolutions of the General Assembly.

inconsistent with this Act be and the same are hereby repealed.

CHAPTER 279.
AN ACT to provide for the purchase of water works for the
town of Chestertown in Kent County, and to authorize the
Commissioners of Chestertown to issue bonds to pay there-
for, and to levy an annual tax for the payment of such bonds
and interest thereon.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of -Mary-
land, That the Commissioners of Chestertown or a majority of
them, are hereby authorized and empowered to purchase the

works, land, leasehold, springe, pools, pipes, reservoirs, water
rights and franchises of the Chestertown Water Company of
Kent county, Maryland, for the purpose of furnishing said
town with water, at such price as may be agreed upon by said
Commissioners of Chestertown, or a majority of them, and the
owner or owners of said Chestertown Water Company, and
upon the payment of the price agreed upon the said water
works, pipes, reservoirs, springs, Teases, pools, water rights,
property and franchise of said water company shall be conveyed
to and vest in said town.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That after the purchase of said

shall operate the same with authority to employ such superin-
tendent, engineer, workmen, laborers and employes as may be
necessary to carry on the same, and supply said town and the
inhabitants thereof with water, and shall have authority to

to make repairs, extensions or additions thereto as necessity
may require; and to charge, fix and collect water rates or water
rents for the use of said water ; and to adopt and provide rules,
