moke City, in Worcester county, Maryland, on the third Tnes
day in April, in the year eighteen hundred and ninety-eight,
that the question whether or not said town shall issue coupon
bonds to an amount, not exceeding the sum of thirty thousand
dollars, for the purpose of providing a proper water suppty, a
sewerage system and an electric light plant, or water supply,
independent and to the exclusion of either the sewerage system
or electric light, or both, as may be determined by the election
which is hereby directed to be submitted to the legal and quali-
fied voters of said Pocomoke City.
SEO. 2. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of the

Mayor of Pocomoke City to publish in some newspaper of
general circulation in said town, at least two weeks prior to
olding said election, notice thereof, containing the substance
of this Act, the day and hour of opening and closing the polls,
and the place of polling. He shall also appoint three citizens,
qualified voters of said town, to act as judges of election, who,
before entering upon the discharge of their duties, shall take
an oath before a no'tary public or justice of the peace for
Worcester county, to act fairly and impartially, and in accord-
ance with law, as judges of said election; one of the said
judges shall act as clerk, and the said judges shall receive one
dollar each for their services as such ; the polls shall be opened
at 10 o'clock A. M. and close at four o'clock P. M., and the
names of the persons voting bhall be registered by the said
clerk. The ballots shall have printed on them the words : "for
the issue of water, sewerage and electric light bonds;" "against
the issue of water sewerage and electric light bonds ;" "for the
issue of water bonds;" "against the issue of water bonds;"
"for the issue of water and sewerage bonds ;" "against the issue
of water and sewerage bonds;" "for the issue of water and
light bonds ;" "against the issue of water and light bonds."
The said judges shall make immediate returns of the votes cast
to the clerk of the Circuit Court for Worcester County, and if
a majority of the votes cast shall be against the issuing of
bonds, as set forth in this section, then in that case no bonds
shall be issued ; but if a majority of the votes cast shall be for
the issuing of bonds, as set forth, then the said Mayor and
Council shall have power and authority to issue said bonds to
the amount of thirty thousand dollars, or less, as hereafter pro-
vided.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That if the decision by said elec-
tion shall be for the issuing of bonds as aforesaid, the Mayor
and City Council of Pocomoke, are hereby authorized and
