the year eighteen hundred and ninety-eight, shall appoint a
citizen of said county, other than the clerk to said Commis-
sioners, other than a County Commissioner, to be county
treasurer, who shall hold his office for two years from the first
day of June, eighteen hundred and ninety-eight, and until the
election and qualification of the treasurer as hereinbefore pro-
vided for, and the treasurer so appointed shall during his term
of office, perform all the duties by this Act required of
the treasurer when elected, and all the terms and provisions
of this Act as to powers, duties and obligations are hereby
extended and made to apply to said appointed treasurer.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 236.
AN ACT to repeal Sections 2 and 6 of Chapter 539 of the
Acts of 1890, entitled "An Act to amend the Charter of the
Guardian, Security and Trust Company of Baltimore City,"
a corporation formed under the provisions of Article twenty-
three of the Code of Public General Laws, title "Corpora-
tions," and to re-enact the same with amendments, providing
for the change of name of said corporation and the time of
the meeting of the stockholders for the election of directors.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That sections 2 and 6 of chapter 539 of the Acts of 1890,
entitled "An Act to amend the charter of the Guardian, Secu-

rity and Trust Company of Baltimore City," a corporation
formed under the provisions of Article twenty-three of the
Code of Public General Laws, title "Corporations," be and
the same are hereby repealed and re-enacted with amendments,
so as to read as follows :
2. And be it further enacted, That the name of the said
corporation be and is hereby changed from that of "The Guar-

as designated in said section 2 of the said chapter 539 of the
Acts of 1890, to that of "The Guardian, Trust and Deposit
Company of Baltimore City," and by such last mentioned
name shall have perpetual succession, and may adopt a corpo-
rate seal, and may sue and be sued ; provided, however, that
