107. Before entering upon the duties of his office, the treas-

urer shall take an oath, in due form of law, before the clerk of
the Circuit Court for Prince George's county, to perform the
duties of his office. He shall also execute a good bond, secured
by a fidelity or security company incorporated under the laws
of the State of Maryland, which shall have deposited with the
State Treasurer, not less than one hundred thousand dollars, as
provided in the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland of the
year 1892, chapter 109, to the State of Maryland, in the penalty
of fifty thousand dollars for the faithful performance of his duties
as treasurer, and further conditioned that he shall well and
truly account for and be liable for any and all money coming
into his possession as treasurer, which bond shall be approved
by the judges of the Circuit Court for Prince George's county,
or a majority of them, and thereafter be recorded iii the office
of the clerk of the Circuit Court for said county, and upon
default of the treasurer-elect to execute such a bond within
thirty days after his election, and the same has been declared
by the proper officers, the Governor of the State shall appoint
another in his place, and so on until a treasurer shall have duly
qualified.

108. In case of the death or resignation of the treasurer

during his term of office, the Governor of the State shall,
within twenty days thereafter, appoint a treasurer for the
unexpired term thus created, who shall take the oath, give the
bond and perform all the duties of said office prescribed by
law, but such successor shall not take charge of or collect any
of the taxes that were in the hands of the late treasurer and
uncollected. The bond of the former treasurer shall remain
responsible for said taxes, and they shall be collected and
accounted for under the laws governing such a case.

law or upon the order of the County Commissioners, the pro-
ceeds of all county taxes levied in said county and collected by
him ; and shall also keep and pay over to the Treasurer of the
State, according to law, all the State taxes levied in said county
and collected by him. He shall keep a full and accurate
account of all matters relating to the duties of his office, in-
cluding assessments received, money collected and paid out,
and vouchers taken therefor ; and when required, give to the
County Commissioners a true statement thereof.
