said Mayor and Common Council of Union Bridge for the
repair and maintenance and improvement of the streets, roads
and alleys within the corporate limits of eaid town.

SEC. 2. Be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect from
the date of its passage.
Approved March 2, 1898.

CHAPTER 8.
AN ACT to prohibit fast driving over any public highway,
road or avenue, within one-half mile, in any direction, of the
Library Hall, in Catonsville, Baltimore County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That it shall be unlawful for any person to either drive
or ride a horse or horses, or any other animal used for driving
or riding purposes, at a greater rate of speed than six miles an

hour, over any public highway, road or avenue, within one-half

timore county ; and any person violating this Act shall, upon
conviction before the Circuit Court, or any justice of the peace
for said county, be fined a sum not less than five dollars nor
more than ten dollars for each offense.

Effective.

CHAPTER 9.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, section
159 H of Article 22 of the Code of Public Local Laws, title
"Washington County," sub title "Hagerstown," as said sec-
tion was enacted by Chapter 36 of the Acts of 1892.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That section 159 H of Article 22 of the Code of Public

Local Laws, title "Washington County," subtitle "Hagers-
town," as said section was enacted by chapter 36 of the Acts
of 1892, be and the same is heieby repealed and re-enacted
with amendments so as to read as follows: 159 H. The Mayor
shall cause to be delivered to the respective officers of registra-
tion of said registration districts before the first Monday in
March, in the year nineteen hundred, two of said registries for
the ward for which said officer of registration shall have been
