LAWS OF MARYLAND.

"Allegany County," aub-title ''County Tax Collectors," and
add three new sections to said Article, to follow immediately
after Section 42, to be designated Sections 42 A, 42 B and
42 e, and to repeal Section 31 of Article 81 of the Code of
Public General Laws, title "Revenue and Taxes," sub-title
"Collectors and Collections," so far as the same relates to
Allegany County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That section 4'2 of Article one of the Code of Public
Local Laws, title "Allegany County," sub-title Tax Collectors,"
be and the same is hereby repealed and re enacted with amend-

1900, the territory of Allegany county is hereby divided into
"four tax collection districts, of which the territory now
embraced by election districts one, two, three, sixteen and
twenty-one shall constitute the first tax collection district ; and
the territory now embraced by election districts four, tive, six,
fourteen, twenty-two and twenty-three shall constitute the sec-
ond tax collection district; and the territory now embraced by
election districts eleven, twelve, thirteen, seventeen, nineteen,
twenty and twenty-four shall constitute the third tax collec-
tion district ; and the territory now embraced by election dis-
tricts seven, eight, nine, ten, fifteen and twenty-five shall con-
stitute the fourth tax collection district ; and that at the
general election for county officers for Allegany county, to be

thereafter, at said general elections four tax collectors, one for
each of said tax collection districts, shall be elected by the
qualified voters of said county, which collectors shall hold
their office for a term of two years beginning on the third
Tuesday of April next after their election, or until their suc-
cessors are elected and qualified ; and said collectors shall be
subject to removal from their said office by the County Com-
missioners of Allegany county for any wilful neglect of duty,
misbehavior in office or incompetency at any time, but the
County Commissioners of Allegany county, at their April
sessions of 1898 and 1899, shall continue to appoint tax collect-
