the fund in the hands of said Board of Police Commissioners,
known and accounted for as the special fund, the sum of nine
dollars per week for his life, in lieu of the sum of six dollars
per week now paid to the said Michael Lanahan by eaid Board
of Police Commissioners, under and by authority of an Act of
the General Assembly of Maryland, chapter four hundred and
fifty-nine, laws of Maryland, eighteen hundred and eighty-six,
entitled an Act to define a fund of money now in the hands
or which under existing laws may come into the hands of the
Board of Police Commissioners for the city of Baltimore, and
to provide for its application. Approved April 7th, eighteen
hundred and eighty-six.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect

Effective.

from the date of its passage.
Approved April 7, 1898.

CHAPTER 137.
AN ACT to appropriate a sum of money to pay the claim of
Klipper, Webster & Co., of Baltimore City.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Comptroller of the Treasury be and he is

tion.

hereby directed to draw his warrant on the treasurer for the
sum of two hundred and fifty-one dollars for furniture fur-
nished the State of Maryland, said furniture being used in
the Speaker's room of the House of Delegates.

Effective.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That this Act shall take effect
at the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 138.
AN ACT to add ten new sections to Article 4 of the Public
Local Laws, title "City of Baltimore," for regulating the
taking of bail in the Criminal Court of Baltimore and 'by
Justices of the Peace selected by the Governor to sit at the
Station Houses in the City of Baltimore, commonly known
as Police Justices, said sections to be known as 207 A, 207 B,
207 e, 207 D, 207 E, 207 F, 207 o, 207 H, 207 i, 207 j, 207 K.
SECTION 1. JBe it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary ~
land, That the following new sections be added to the Mary-
