SEO. 8. And ~be it further enacted, That the failure of said
town to construct any part of the improvements herein con-
templated shall not invalidate such bonds as may be issued to
raise money for another part thereof, but said town shall have
power to issue from time to time such bonds, not exceeding the
said sum of forty thousand dollars, as may be necessary for the
completion of said improvements.

SEO. 9. And be it further enacted. That this Act shall take
effect from the date of its passage. •

CHAPTER 126.
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 207
of Article 17 of Public Local Laws, as amended by the
Acts of 1894, Chapter 127, and to add an additional section
to said Article of the Public Local Laws, to be known as
Section 246 R.

Effective.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That section 207 of Article 17 of the Code of Public
Local Laws, entitled "Prince George's County," sub-title
"Laurel," as repealed and re-enacted by the Act of 1894,
chapter 127, be and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted
so as to read as follows :
207. There shall be appointed annually by the Mayor, sub-
ject to the approval of the City Council, in the month of April,
or as soon thereafter as practicable, one or more persons, not

exceeding three, each possessing the same qualifications as the
Mayor, as bailiffs of eaid town, whose duties it shall be to pre-]
serve the peace and good order of the town, to arrest without
warrant and take before a justice of the peace any person
found violating any ordinance of said town or any law of this
State, (or upon warrant issued on complaint of others to arrest
any person charged with the violation of any ordinance or law
and take them before a justice of the peace) to be dealt with
according to law, and whenever necessary to commit any
offender until a speedy trial can be had; and for these pur-
poses the said bailiffs are hereby vested also with "the same
powers as are now possessed by constables under the laws of
this State, and shall be entitled in addition to the compensation
fixed by the Mayor and City Council, to fees allowed con-
stables under the laws of this State, which shall be collected
from the parties arrested and convicted.
