MARYLAND, Sct:
At a Session of the General Assembly of M aryland, begun
and held in the City of Annapolis, on the fifth day of
January, 1898, His Excellency LLOYD LOWNDES, being
Governor, the following laws were enacted, to wit :
CHAPTER 1.
AN ACT to repeal sections 156, 157, 159, 160, 162, 163,
164, 165, 166, 168, 170, 171, 172, 173, 174, 177, 178, 180,
181, 182, 185 and 245 of Article eleven of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, title " Frederick County,"
sub-title {< Frederick," and the several Acts and parts of
Acts amendatory thereto, relating to the election of the
Mayor, City Register and Aldermen of Frederick City, and
to the duties of said officers, and to re enact the said sections
156, 157, 159, 171, 172, 173, 174, 177, 178, 180, 181, 182,
185 and 245 with amend ments.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That sections 156, 157, 159, 160, 162, 163, 164,

165, 166, 168, 170, 171, 172, 173, 174, 177, 178, 180, 181,
182, 185 and 245, of Article eleven of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland, title " Frederick County," sub-title
" Frederick," and the several Acts and parts of Acts amend-
atory thereto, relating to the election of the Mayor, City Reg-
ister and Aldermen of Frederick City, and to the duties of
said officers, be and the same are hereby repealed, and that
the said sections 156, 157, 159, 171, 172, 173, 174, 177, 178,
180, 181, 182, 185 and 245 be, and the same are hereby
re-enacted with amendments so as to read as follows:
156. All male citizens of Maryland above the age of twenty-

one years, who shall be citizens of the United States, and
who shall have resided within the State of Maryland for
twelve months, and within Frederick City six months next
