Council of the town of Laurel, and the Mayor of said town
shall immediately make proclamation of the result of the said
election by causing the same to be published in the newspapers
published in said town as returned by the judges of election
aforesaid.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That if it shall be found by the
said judges of election of said town of Laurel that a majority

of said votes cast in said town has been "Against License,"
that then it shall not be lawful for any person or persons,
house, corporation, company or association to sell spirituous or
fermented liquors, or alcoholic bitters, directly or, indirectly at
any place within the corporate limits of said town, and the
laws now in force as sections 247, 248, 249, 250, 251, 252, 253,
254 and 255 of Article seventeen of the Code of Public
Local Laws, shall be and remain in full force and effect ; but
if it shall be found by the return of said judges of election
and proclamation of said Mayor that a majority of the votes
cast as prescribed in the preceding sections has been cast "For
License," then it shall be lawful for any person or persons,
house, corporation, company or association to sell spirituous or
fermented liqnors or alcoholic bitters under the provisions of
this Act, as hereinafter mentioned and provided, and the fol-
lowing sections shall be in full force and effect ; and a certified
copy of said proclamation, which shall be filed with the City
Council, certified under the hand of the clerk with the seal of
the Mayor and City Council, or any printed copy of said proc-
lamation shall be evidence in any proceeding, civil or criminal,
as evidence of the adoption of this Act.
SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That no person or persons, house,
corporation, company or association, after the first day of May,

eighteen hundred and ninety-eight, shall sell or barter, offer
for sale, barter or keep for sale or barter, directly or indirectly
in that part of the tenth election district of Prince George's
county included within the corporate limits of the town of
Laurel, any spirituous or fermented liquors, ale, lager beer,
ambrosia or alcoholic bitters, except as hereinafter provided;
but nothing in this Act shall be construed to prevent the use
of liquor in the compounding of any prescription by any drug-
gist on the written prescription of any physician.
SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That any person or persons,
house, corporation, company or association desiring to obtain a
license to sell spirituous or fermented liquors, ale, lager beer,
ambrosia or alcoholic bitters in that part of the tenth election
