Clerk to be
paid.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the County Commissioners
of St. Mary's county are and they are hereby directed to pay
the clerk of the Circuit Court for St. Mary's county whatever
sum or sums of money may be found to be due him under the
preceding section, upon the receipt, of the certificate therein
required.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That from and after the passage
of this Act it shall be the duty of said clerk to enter in said

general indices all conveyances thereafter recorded, for which
service he shall be allowed the same compensation as is allowed
for similar services, to be paid for by the grantee to the con-
veyance as other costs are now paid.

Effective.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 96.
AN ACT to amend an Act entitled "An Act to incorporate
the National Fire Insurance Company of Baltimore, passed
December session 1849, Chapter 194, by repealing Section 7,
and re-enacting the same with amendment.

Repeal.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That section 7 of Chapter 194 of the Acts of 1899, be
and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted, to read as
follows :
7. And be it enacted, That any male person above the age

shares of the capital stock of the National Fire Insurance
Company of Baltimore, shall be eligible to serve as a director
of said body corporate.

Effective.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That this Act shall take effect

CHAPTER 97.
AN ACT to sanction the bequest of five hundred dollars to
the Vestry of St. John's Protestant Episcopal Church in
Howard County, Maryland, contained in the last will and
testament of Mrs. Emily G. Stewart, late of Howard County,
