LAWS OF MARYLAND.

CHAPTER 47.
AN ACT to appropriate a sum of money ($92.72) under the
provisions of Section 33, Article 3, of the Constitution, to
pay Oscar B. B. Ewell, late Collector of Taxes for the Third
Collection District of Somerset County, for the year 1892,
the same being an over-payment into the State Treasury of
Maryland.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Comptroller of the Treasury be and he is hereby
authorized and directed to issue his warrant on the Treasurer

of this State in favor of Oscar B. B. Ewell, late Collector of
Taxes for Collection District No. three of Somerset county
for 1892, for the sum of ninety-two dollars and seventy-five
cents, the same being an over-payment on taxes charged to said
Oscar B. B. Ewell for said year ; and the payment of the same
having been recommended by the officers of the Treasury
Department under provision of section 33, Article 3, of the
Constitution, annexed.

Effective.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
Approved March 14, 1898.

CHAPTER 48.
AN ACT to authorize the County Commissioners of Queen
Anne's County to grant a pension to James Reed, of said
County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the County Commissioners of Queen Anne's county

granted.

be and they are hereby authorized and empowered to grant and
pay to James Reed, of said county, an annual pension of fifty
dollars for and during the natural life of the said James Reed,
and to provide, for and levy the said sum on the assessable
property of said county.

Effective.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 49.
AN ACT to make valid mortgages and assignments of mort-
gages defectively sworn to since the twenty-seven day of
March, in the year eighteen hundred and ninety-six.
