SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 489.
AN ACT to incorporate the Lime and Cement Exchange of
Baltimore City.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Charles H. Classen, Benjamin Wallis, Harry P.

Boyd, William A. Allers, Samuel J. Diggs, Laurence J.
Warren, John S. Bullock, Harry R. Grimes, Clinton M. John-
son, Addison H. Clarke, and their associates and successors, be
and they are hereby constituted and made a body corporate
and politic under the name and style of the "Lime and Cement
Exchange of Baltimore City," and by that name shall have
perpetual succession.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the objects and purposes

of this corporation shall be to foster trade and commerce, to
reform abuses therein, to secure freedom from unjust and
unlawful exactions, to establish and maintain uniformity in
commercial usages, to settle differences that may arise, to pro-
mote harmonious feeling of mutual interest between merchants
engaged in the lime and cement business, to facilitate dealings
between the members of the trade by providing suitable rooms
and times of meeting, to enable them to meet together and
transact business, and to ensure united action wherever and
whenever the interest of its members are concerned.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the said corporation, under

the above name and style shall be capable in law to sue and be
sued, to plead and be impleaded, and to answer and be answered
in any court of law or equity ; to make and use a common seal,
and to alter ana renew the same at pleasure ; to make and
adopt a constitution and by-laws for the government of said
body corporate and its affairs ; provided, the same shall not be
in conflict with the constitution and laws of this State, and of
the United States ; to elect officers and directors, and generally
to do every other act or thing to carry into effect the provis-
ions of this Act, or to promote the objects and designs of the
corporation.
