CHAPTER 470.
AN ACT to pay Edward W. Miller, of Frederick County,
late weigher-general of grain, and D. P. Osborne, of Alle-
gany County, late assistant weigher of grain, for services
rendered the State in weighing grain in Baltimore City in
the year eighteen hundred and ninety-six.
WHEREAS, Edward W. Miller, of Frederick county, late

county, late assistant weigher of grain, were appointed by the
Governor of Maryland as weigher-general and assistant
weigher, respectively, during the January session of 1896 ;
and
WHEREAS, After having performed their duties according to

they were so advised by the Attorney General, that owing to
a defect in the law it was impossible to collect their fees from
the owners of the grain ; and their resignations having been
tendered and accepted by the Governor ; therefore,

ized and empowered to issue his warrant upon the Treasurer
of the State, out of any monies not otherwise appropriated,

and of the said O. P. Osborne for the sum of one hundred and
eighty-four dollars and forty-seven cents ($184.74,) as per bills
