WHEREAS, Dr. Brice W. Goldsborough, Henry Lloyd,
George W. Woolford, Sbephard Webster, Thomas Drennen, P.

E. Hines, J. Newton Elston, W. Irving Mace, John H. Philips,
Edward G. Hopkins, Samuel Lehman and John G. Mills, all
citizens of Cambridge, Dorchester county, State of Maryland,
under and by virtue of the General Laws of the State of
Maryland authorizing the formation of corporations, have
formed a corporation under the name of the United Charities
Hospital Association of Dorchester county, Maryland ; and
WHEREAS, Said corporation has been formed for the purpose

of establishing and maintaining a hospital for the sick, infirm,
and destitute people, to be under the control and management
of the named directors or managers, who will direct and man-
age the concerns of said corporation for the first year ; there-
fore,
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-

land, That the sum of fifteen hundred dollars, for the year
1898, and fifteen hundred dollars for the year 1899, be and the
same is hereby appropriated out of any money by the Treasury
not otherwise appropriated, to the United Charities Hospital
Association of Dorchester county, Maryland, and the Treas-
urer, on the warrant of the Comptroller, be and he is hereby
authorized and directed to pay to the order of the Board of
directors of said United Charities Hospital Association, the
sums of money hereinbefore appropriated, provided no part of
said appropriation shall be used for the purchase of or payment
for any land, building or improvement connected with said
hospital, but shall be used wholly for the support and mainte-
nance of the free indigent county patients in said hospital, and
provided further, that said hospital shall provide and keep
ready for use at least ten free beds for the use of the indigent
patients of this State who may be sent to said hospital. And
provided further, that an annual statement of the management
of said hospital, and an account of its receipts and disburse-
ments shall annually, on or before the first day of January,
be transmitted to the Governor of this State.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
