SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 447.
AN ACT to authorize and empower the County Commission-
ers of Montgomery County to levy the sum of one thou-
sand dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary at their
next annual levy, and to pay the same into the hands of the
School Commissioners of said Montgomery County ; and to
authorize and direct the said School Commissioners to
repair, improve and add to the present school house and lot
of ground for colored children, in the town of Rockville,
and purchase land adjacent to said lot, for the education of
the colored children of Montgomery County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of

Effective.

Maryland, That the County Commissioners of Montgomery
county be and they are hereby authorized and empowered to
levy at their next annual levy the sum of one thousand dollars,
or so much thereof as may be necessary, and to pay the same
into the hands of the School Commissions of said Montgomery
county, for the special purpose of repairing, improving and
adding to the present school building and acquiring land adja-
cent to the lot on which building stands.

SEC. 2. Be it enacted, That the School Commissioners of
Montgomery county be and they are hereby authorized and
empowered to repair, improve and add to on the most advanta-
geous terms, the present school house and lot of ground for
colored children, situated in the town of Rockville, and to
apply the amount levied by said County Commissioners as
aforesaid, authorized and empowered to be levied by the
preceding section, and to improve, repair and add to said
present school building, and purchase land adjacent to the
present school house lot.
