waive, renounce and surrender all rights, titles, claims or inter-
ests that may have been, are now or may hereafter be vested in
us in the said monument, and for the considerations above
named we transfer the same to J. Leonard Hoffman, chairman,
Louis P. Hennighausen, Louis Hoffman and Joseph Evans
Sperry, a joint committee representing, respectively, the Grand
Army of the Republic, the Society for the History of the Ger-
mans in Maryland, the German-American Lincoln Club of
Baltimore, and the Art Commission of the City of Baltimore.

WHEREAS, It is further witnessed and agreed, that when-
ever the said monument has been removed, re-enacted and re-

dedicated in accordance with the above agreement, and the
indicated aim and purposes of the subjoined joint committee,
that all rights, titles, claims and interests in and to this monu-
ment that may now or hereafter be or become vested in us by
transfer from the survivors of the original projectors, or other-
wise, be and the same is absolutely and without reserve trans-
ferred and deeded to the State of Maryland, to have and to
hold the same as a part of the public property of the State, all
this for and in consideration of an appropriation by the State
of five hundred dollars ($500), or as much thereof as may be
necessary to cover the expenses of the removal, cleaning, re-
erecting and re-dedication of said monument as contemplated
by this committee.

SECTION. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Governor shall, within thirty days after the
passage of this Act, appoint J. Leonard Hoffman, Louis P.

Commission-
ers of the
State.

Hennighausen, Louis Hoffman and Joseph Evans Sperry, repre-
senting, respectively, the Grand Army of the Republic, The
Society for the History of the Germans in Maryland, The
German-American Lincoln Club and the Art Commission of
the city of Baltimore, as Commissioners of the State to carry
out the provisions of this Act, as hereinafter provided, and who
shall serve without pay.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, It shall be the duty of the said
Commissioners undere this Act to make such contracts and
