thereof as may be necessary ; for salary of stenographer and
typewriter for use of Treasury department, the sum of six
hundred dollars per annum ; to the State "Weather Service, two
thousand dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary ; for
printing the report of the State Board of Health, one thousand
dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary, to be expended
under the direction of the Governor ; for printing sample bal-
lots and so forth, one thousand dollars, or so much thereof as
may be necessary, to be expended under the direction of the
Governor ; for printing State School Report, thirteen hundred
dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary ; for the ex-
penses of the Secretary of the Lunacy Commission, fifteen
hundred dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary ; to
defray the costs and expenses in pending suit of Maryland
against West Virginia in the Supreme Court of the United
States, five thousand dollars, or so much thereof as may be
necessary, to be expended under the direction and control of
the Attorney General ; to the Maryland State Firemen's Asso-
ciation the sum of two hundred dollars, or so much thereof as
may be necessary, to be used in accordance with chapter 57 of
the Acts of 1896.

For the payment of the interest on the public debt of the
debt of the State, two hundred and eighty five thousand dol-
lars, or so much thereof as may be necessary.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the Treasurer of the

said sum or suras of money herein appropriated for the objects
and purposes herein specified, to or upon the order of the per-
son or persons, or body politic or corporate, entitled to receive
the same.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from and after the first day of October, eighteen hundred and
ninety-eight.

CHAPTER 407.
AN ACT to add an additional section to Article XXXVIII of
the Code of Public General Laws, entitled " Fines and For-
feitures," to follow Section 3, and to be known as Section 4.
