JOINT RESOLUTIONS.

Be it resolved, That the governor of the state
shall, immediately after the passage of these res-

olutions, appoint five persons who shall consti-
tute a commission to be called "The State Prison
Removal Commission," and that it shall be the
duty of said commission to thoroughly investi-
gate the subject of the removal of the peniten-
tiary from its present location to a point beyond
the limits of the city of Baltimore, and they
shall especially inquire into and ascertain the
value and selling price of the lot and improve-
ments thereon, and the probable cost of a new
lot and the erection of buildings suitable for the
purposes of the state.
And be it resolved, That said commissioners

shall present to the next general assembly a full,
detailed and accurate report of all the matters
and facts which they are by these resolutions
required to inquire into, ascertain and consider,
together with their recommendations; it being
hereby declared that the principal object of
these resolutions is to provide complete and ac-
curate information for the use of the next gen-
eral assembly.

sion shall keep an accurate account of expenses
and present the same to the committee on claims
of the next general assembly.

Joint resolution authorizing the cancellation of
stocks and bonds held by the treasurer for the
sinking funds, and the transfer of stocks and
bonds from the sinking funds known as Deaf
and Dumb Asylum loan sinking fund and the
Maryland Hospital loan sinking fund to the
credit of the common school fund and defence
redemption loan.
