Chapter 532.

AN ACT to appropriate certain sums of money
to the support of Sundry schools and charita-
ble institutions in the State of Maryland for
each of the two years ending on the thirtieth
day of Beptember, eighteen hundred and eighty-
nine, and the thirtieth day of Beptember,
eighteen hundred and ninety, respectively.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-

bly of Maryland, That the sums of money herein-
after named be and they are hereby appropriated
to the support of the hereinafter mentioned
schools and charitable institutions in the state
for each of the two years ending on the thirtieth
day of Beptember, eighteen hundred and eighty-
nine, and the thirtieth day of Beptember, eight-
een, hundred and ninety,- respectively, to wit :
1. To F. Knapp's English and German Insti-
tute for the training and education of indigent

mutes, the sum of twelve hundred dollars for the
year eighteen hundred and eighty-nine ; and the
like sum of twelve hundred dollars for the year
eighteen hundred and ninety; and in considera-
tion of said appropriation the said F. Knapp's
English and German Institute is hereby required
and directed to maintain twelve free scholarships,
heretofore established, in said institute for the
training and education of indigent mutes and to
train and educate twelve indigent mutes and to
furnish them with necessary text-books, appli-
ances and so forth.
