Chapter 500.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amend-
ments chapter one hundred and eighty-six of
the acts passed at the January session of
eighteen hundred and eighty -six, being "An
act to repeal and re-enact with amendments
chapter four hundred and fifty-five of the acts
of January session, eighteen hundred and
eighty-four," entitled "An act to repeal sec-
tion eight hundred and ten of article four of
the Code of Public Local Laws," title "City
of Baltimore," sub-title "Police," and to re-
enact the same with amendments.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That chapter one hundred and
eighty-six of the acts passed at the January ses-

passed January session, eighteen hundred and
eighty-four," entitled "An act to repeal section

more," sub-title "Police," and to re-enact the
same with amendments, be and the same is here-
by repealed and re-enacted with amendments so
as to read as follows :
SEC. 810. That the said board of police com-

missioners be and they are hereby authorized
and required, immediately on entering on the
duties of their office, to appoint, enroll and em-
ploy a permanent police force for the city of
Baltimore which they shall arm and equip as
they may judge necessary, under such rules and
regulations as they may from time to time pre-
scribe ; and the said board shall have power to
remove any police officer or officers of police, or
any detective for the violation of any rule or
regulations which they may make and promul-
gate to said police force, officers of police or
detectives; said force shall consist of one marshal
and one deputy marshal of police of the city,
and one captain, two lieutenants, two turnkeys
