eighteen hundred and eighty-nine, the following
sums of money, or so much thereof as may be
necessary, be and the same are hereby appro-
priated ; that is to say —
FOR STATE OFFICERS.
For the salary of the governor, four thousand
five hundred dollars ; for the salary of the secre-
tary of state, two thousand dollars ; for the
salary of the messenger of the governor, one

thousand dollars ; for the salary of the comp-
troller of the treasury, two thousand and five
hundred dollars ; for the salary of the chief
clerk to the comptroller, eighteen hundred dol-
lars ; for the salary of three assistant clerks to
the comptroller, twelve hundred dollars each,
three thousand six hundred dollars, and for ex-
tra clerical services, four hundred dollars ; for
the salary of the treasurer of the state, two thou-
sand and five hundred dollars ; for the salary of
the chief clerk to the treasurer, eighteen hun-
dred dollars ; for the salary of two assistant
clerks to the treasurer, each twelve hundred
dollars, making twenty-four hundred dollars ;
for the salary of one clerk to the state tax com-
missioner, twelve hundred dollars ; for the
salary of state librarian, fifteen hundred dollars ;
for the salary of the commissioner of the land
office, fifteen hundred dollars ; for the salary of
one clerk to the commissioner of the land office,
twelve hundred dollars.

the court of appeals from Baltimore city, and
of the chief judge and four associate judges of
the supreme bench of Baltimore city, three
