Chapter 471.
AN ACT to repeal chapter two hundred and
eighty-five of the acts of the general assembly
passed at January session, eighteen hundred
and eighty-four, entitled "An act to repeal
section twenty-two of article eleven of the
Code of Public General Laws, title 'Attorneys
at Law and Attorneys in Fact,' sub-title
'State's Attorneys,' so far as the same ap-
plies to Garrett county," and to re-enact the
same with amendments providing for the
compensation of the state's attorney for Gar-
rett county.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General As-
sembly of Maryland, That chapter two hundred
and eighty-five of the acts of assembly passed

at January session, eighteen hundred and
eighty-four, entitled "An act to repeal section
twenty-two of article eleven of the Code of
Public General Laws, title 'Attorneys at Law
and Attorneys in Fact,' sub-title 'State's At-
torneys,' " be and the same is hereby repealed so
far as it applies to Garrett county, and re-
enacted with amendments fixing the compen-
sation of the state's attorney for Garrett
county, and to read as follows :
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the state's

attorney of Garrett county shall not receive any
appearance fee in cases of recognizance, except
when the same are traversed ; nor shall said
state's attorney receive any fee or compensa-
tion in any case until the same has been finally
disposed of by judgment or otherwise.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the state's

attorney of Garrett county shall receive the
sum of fifteen dollars in each and every case
which he shall prosecute for the state by in-
dictment or presentment and trial, either before
the court or a jury ; and that said sum shall be
in addition to the appearance fee as now fixed
by law.
