rarily use such stove or furnace with necessary
fuel ; provided that in cars which have been
equipped with apparatus to heat by steam, hot-
water or hot-air from the locomotive, or from a
special car, the present stove may be retained to
be used only when the car is standing still ; and
provided, also, that this act shall not prevent the
use of stoves for cooking purposes in dining-
room cars.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That any person or

corporation violating any of the provisions of
this act shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor,
and upon conviction thereof shall be liable to a
penalty of one thousand dollars, and to the fur-
ther penalty of one hundred dollars for each and
every day during which such violation shall
continue.

AN ACT for the relief of St. John's College.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-

bly of Maryland, That the sum of two thousand
two hundred and fifty-six dollars be and the
same is hereby appropriated out of any money
in the treasury, not otherwise appropriated, to
the use and for the benefit of St. John's College,
Annapolis, Maryland, for two years' interest on
the debt of eighteen thousand eight hundred
dollars resting on said college, as shown by the
report of the joint committee to investigate the
affairs of said college made to the general
assembly March first, instant.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said sum
of money shall be and hereby is made payable

to the order of the board of visitors and gov-
ernors of said college by the treasurer of the
state on the warrant of the comptroller, who is
hereby authorized and directed to draw his
warrant for the same in two annual instal-
ments of eighteen hundred and twenty-eight
dollars each, payable on the first day of July,
