LAWS OF MARYLAND.

Chapter 400.

AN ACT to reimburse William H. Willis, sher-
iff of Dorchester county, a sum of money for
costs and expenses in the case of the State
against the vessel "Two Brothers."

WHEREAS by a judgment rendered by Wil-

Preamble.

liam T. Staplefort, one of the justices of the
peace for Dorchester county, in the case of the
State of Maryland vs. the vessel Two Brothers,
the said vessel was ordered to be sold for a vio-
lation of the oyster laws of this state, upon
which said judgment an order or execution was
issued, directed to the sheriff of Dorchester
county, to sell said vessel; and whereas by virtue
of said order or execution, the sheriff did sell
said vessel as required by law in such cases at
and for the sum of fifteen dollars only, though
the necessary costs in protecting and selling said
vessel amounted to the sum of sixty-seven dol-
lars and forty-five cents, which was paid by said
sheriff, thus leaving the sum of fifty-two dollars
and forty-five cents still due the said sheriff
from the state, which ought to be paid; therefore,
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-

Directed to
draw, etc.

bly of Maryland, That the comptroller of the
treasury of Maryland be and he is hereby
directed to draw his warrant on the treasurer of
said state for the said sum of fifty-two dollars
and forty-five cents, payable to the order of said
William H. Willis, sheriff of Dorchester county,
for said costs and expenses.

Effective.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

Approved April 5, 1888.
