Chapter 60

AN ACT to appropriate a sum of money to pay
John Murphy & Co. for two hundred and
fifty volumes of "Thomas B. Dorsey's Digest"
of the Maryland reports.

WHEREAS by a joint resolution passed at the

65

January session of eighteen hundred and
eighty-six, the state librarian was authorized
and directed to subscribe, in the name of the
state, for two hundred and fifty volumes of
"Thomas B. Dorsey's Digest" of the Maryland
reports, provided the price thereof should not
exceed ten dollars per volume, and provided
also, that any three judges of the court of
appeals of the state shall certify, under their
hands and seals, that in their opinion the work
is a faithful digest of the opinions of said court,
etc.; and, whereas three judges of said court,
namely, Hon. R. H. Alvey, Hon. Oliver Miller
and Hon. William Shepard Bryan, have so cer-
tified, and said volumes have been duly deliv-
ered for the use of the state, therefore,
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the comptroller of the
treasury be and he is hereby authorized and

directed to issue his warrant upon the treasurer
of the state in favor of John Murphy & Co. for
the sum of two thousand five hundred dollars,
in full payment for two hundred and fifty
volumes of "Thomas B. Dorsey's Digest" of
the Maryland reports, said claim having been
examined and approved by the comptroller of
the treasury, provided the said John Murphy
& Co. shall turn over to the state librarian,
for the use of the state, all printed copies they
now have on hand, and by them represented to
be about three hundred and fifty volumes, with-
out any additional cost to the state, in accordance
with their own proposition made to the senate
through its committee on finance.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

Approved March 7, 1888.
