shall commence on the third Wednesday in the
November of the year of his election, and con-
tinue for two years and until his successor shall
qualify ; and the term of office of the present
incumbent of the mayorality of the city of Bal-
timore shall continue until the qualification of
the mayor to be elected on the Tuesday next
after the first Monday in November, eighteen
hundred and eighty-nine.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That in

pursuance of the power contained in section
nine of article eleven of the Constitution of
Maryland, that section three of said article
eleven of the constitution be and the same is
hereby so changed that hereafter an election for
members of the first branch of the city council
of Baltimore shall be held on Tuesday next after
the first Monday in November in every year, and
for members of the second branch of said coun-
cil on the Tuesday next after the first Monday
in November in every second year.
SEC. 4. And be it further enacted, That the

the city council of Baltimore shall be held on
the Tuesday next after the first Monday in No-
vember, eighteen hundred and eighty-eight, and
an election for members of said first branch
shall be held on the same day in every year
thereafter ; and the next election for members of
the second branch of the city council of Balti-
more shall be held on the Tuesday next after
the first Monday in November, eighteen hun-
dred and eighty-nine, and an election for mem-
bers of said second branch shall be held on the
same day in every second year thereafter.

SEC. 5. And be it further enacted. That here-
after the city council of Baltimore shall meet on
the second Monday in November in each year
instead of on the first Monday in November in
each year, as now provided by law.
