requirements to those indicated for either grade
whenever the same may seem necessary ; such a
certificate shall, however, not continue in force
for more than six months unless the person re-
ceiving the same shall satisfy the examiner of
his fitness for governing a school and his ability
to impart instruction in the various branches
taught in the public schools ; but when the ex-
aminer shall satisfy himself upon those points
he shall be empowered to issue a certificate,
which shall continue in force for five years un-
less revoked for cause.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

AN ACT to establish joint fences in district
number one or Fork district, number two or
East Newmarket and district number twelve
or Williamsburg, in Dorchester county.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That whenever a joint fence
has been or may be established in district num-

ber one or Fork district, number two or East
Newmarket and district number twelve or Wil-
liamsburg, in Dorchester county, for the mutual
advantage of owners of adjoining arable lands
in said district, each shall keep in good repair
his respective portion thereof in the manner fol-
lowing, that is to say, all post and rail or worm
or plank fence shall be at least four feet and
a-half high, and the height in all cases shall be
computed from the ground or base of any em-
bankment on which the same may be placed.
SECTION 2. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That if either of the parties

tion thereof within thirty days after notice, in
writing, given to him or his agent, upon proof
