ELIHU E. JACKSON, ESQUIRE, GOVERNOR.

secure, and that it may be enabled to carry out
with greater efficiency the important objects
for which it was formed ; therefore,
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General As-
sembly of Maryland, That the president of said

association, William E. Walsh; the vice-presi-
dent, Andrew P. Ryland; the secretary, Michael
E. Noonan; the treasurer, Peter E. Wright, and
the trustees, William T. Coulehan, Bernard J.
Coulehan and William D. Paisley and such
other persons as are now members of said asso-
ciation, and their successors, be and they are
hereby created a corporation by the name of the
Catholic club of Cumberland, Maryland, and by
that name shall have perpetual succession; may
sue and be sued, answer and defend in any court
of law or equity, and may adopt a constitution,
ordain and establish such by-laws, rules and
regulations as may appear necessary and proper
for conducting the concerns of said corporation
as shall not be contrary to law ; and the same
may change and alter, or amend, as may appear
proper; and may have, use, and at pleasure,
change, a common seal, and generally may do-
any act or thing necessary and proper to carry
into effect the provisions of this act and promote
the designs of the corporation.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the constitu-
tion, rules and regulations of the said Catholic
club of Cumberland, Maryland, shall be the con-
stitution, rules and regulations for the govern-
ment of the corporation hereby created until the

same shall be regularly repealed or altered by
said corporation; and that the present officers of
the said Catholic club of Cumberland, Maryland,
shall be the officers of the said corporation
hereby created until the regular time for the
election of officers as prescribed by its constitu-
tion and laws, and their qualification for office.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the said cor-
poration shall have the power of receiving sub-

scriptions, donations, devises and bequests of
money, or real or personal property, in trust or
otherwise, and of purchasing or otherwise ac-
quiring and holding such property, to be applied
by it to the objects of its incorporation, not to
exceed the sum of twenty thousand dollars.
