Chapter 383.
AN ACT to provide for the recording in the office
of the county commissioners of Howard county
of the petition, plat and other proceedings had
in relation to the opening, altering or closing
of public roads in said county, and to provide
compensation therefor.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-

bly of Maryland, That in all cases where any pub-
lic road in Howard county is hereafter opened,
altered or closed by the county commissioners
of said county, they shall, within six months after
said road shall have been opened to public travel,
altered or closed, as the case may be, cause the
petition, plat and other proceedings had in rela-
tion to the same to be recorded in a well bound
book to be kept in their office for this purpose.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That a copy of said

proceedings when so recorded, duly attested by
the clerk of said county commissioners, under
the seal of the office of the county commission-
ers, shall be admitted as prima facie evidence
in any court, or before any justice of the peace
in this state, to prove the facts therein recited.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the said county

missioners to
levy tax.
|
commissioners shall, at the usual time of levy-
ing the taxes for the year next succeeding the
recording of said proceedings, cause to be levied
on the assessable property of said county, a sum
sufficient for the payment thereof, at the rate of
one cent for each ten words thereof, and of one
cent for each twenty figures thereof, and pro
rata.

Effective.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.
