and that hereafter the number of justices of the
peace in said district shall be three, to be ap-
pointed by the governor in conformity with the
general law providing for the appointment of
justices of the peace in the several counties of
this state.

Effective.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

Chapter 213.
AN ACT to appropriate a sum of money to sup-
port the Mayland Line Confederate Soldiers'
Home at Pikesville.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-

bly of Maryland, That the sum of five thousand
dollars, for each of the fiscal years eighteen
hundred and eighty-nine and eighteen hundred
and ninety, be and the same is hereby appro-
priated for the support of needy and destitute
Confederate soldiers at the Maryland Line Con-
federate Soldiers' Home at Pikesville.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That said sum shall

be paid to the association of the Maryland Line,
to be expended in putting and keeping in repair
the buildings at Pikesville arsenal, which be-
longs to the state, and in supporting, taking care
of such destitute and decrepit confederate
soldiers as said association shall deem worthy.
