Special meet-
ings.

Special meetings of the association may be called
by the secretary at the request of the president,
or, on receiving a requisition signed by five mem-
bers ; two day's notice must be given of time of
meeting.
ART. 12. An office shall be opened in an eligi-

and diffusing all information pertaining to the
society's operations and objects, and for the
transaction of its general business.

ART. 13. It shall be the duty of every member
of this association to endeavor in all suitable
ways to give practical effect to its principles, es-
pecially to discountenance indiscriminate alms-
giving and street-begging, to provide themselves
with tickets of reference, and instead of giving
aid to unknown applicants whose cases they can-
not investigate, to refer such applicants to the
agent of the section in which the applicants re-
side, in order that they may be properly inquired
into and, if deserving of aid, relieved.

Alterations

ART. 14. This constitution shall not be altered
except at a special meeting called for that pur-
pose on one month's previous notice, or at an
annual meeting — the alteration in either case
to be made by a vote of not less than two-thirds
of the members present.

Power of asso-
ciation.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said asso-
ciation shall have the power by will, deed, gift,
purchase, or in any other manner whatever, to
acquire, take, receive, hold, use, employ, man-
age, dispose of, and deal with in any manner
not inconsistent with law any property — real,
personal, or mixed, and situate in or out of this
state — to an amount such that the net annual
revenues of all the property shall not at any
time exceed the sum of fifty thousand dollars.

Effective.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.
