SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

Chapter 177.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amend-
ments section seventeen of chapter four hun-
dred and forty-three of the acts of eighteen
hundred and seventy-eight, entitled "An act
to amend the charter of Snow Hill, in Worces-
ter County."

Effective.

SECTION 1. Be it Enacted by the General As-
sembly of Maryland, That section seventeen of
chapter four hundred and forty-three of the acts
of eighteen hundred and seventy-eight, entitled
"An act to amend the charter of Snow Hill, in
Worcester County," be and the same is hereby
repealed and re-enacted so as to read as follows :
SEC. 17. And be it enacted, That the commis-
sioners shall annually levy a tax for the expenses

of the corporation upon the taxable property
within the town limits, public and private securi-
ties and book accounts excepted, and the same
shall be collected by a collector appointed by the
said commissioners for the purpose, whose com-
pensation for collecting said taxes shall not ex-
ceed five percentum, and who shall give bond in
such amount as they shall prescribe, and hold his
office during their pleasure, and the said collector,
in collecting the said taxes, shall have full power
to distrain for the same in the same manner as
the collectors of state and county taxes now
do, but the said tax shall not exceed twenty cents
on the one hundred dollars for any one year.
