LAWS OF MARYLAND.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General As-
sembly of Maryland, That for the purpose of

lations of said society, not inconsistent with the
laws of this state, and for the protection of
property, the several justices of the peace in
Cecil county be and they are hereby authorized
and empowered, upon the request of the presi-
dent, vice-president, or any of the managers of
said society, to summon and detail, in the name
of the State of Maryland, such constabulary
force as the president, vice-president, or man-
agers of said society may deem sufficient for the
perfect preservation of peace and order, the
protection of property, and the full enforcement
of the rules and regulations aforesaid, during
any fair or exhibition of said society, and dur-
ing such period thereafter, or prior thereto, as

upon and around the grounds belonging to or
controlled or used by the said society, which de-
tailed force aforesaid shall have and exercise, in
addition to the special power and authority con-
ferred on them by this act, the same powers and
authority as the several constables in the state

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That any person

the provisions of this act, or any of the by-laws,
rules and regulations, or other enactments of the
said society, not inconsistent with the laws of
this state, shall be deemed guilty of a misde-
meanor, and upon conviction thereof before any
justice of the peace of said county, each and
every person so offending shall be fined by said
justice of the peace a sum not less than one dol-
lar and Costs, nor more than five dollars and
costs, for the first offence, and not less than five
dollars and costs, nor more than twenty dollars
and costs, for each and every offence committed
