ments ; and he shall keep the commissioners
office open from nine A. M. to four P. M., each
day, Sundays and holidays excepted ; and his
compensation, as clerk and treasurer, shall be
seven hundred dollars per year, and the county
commissioners shall have power to fill any va-
cancy, however, occurring whenever the same
happens, and may remove him for any incompe-
tency or failure to perform any of his duties.
SEC. 0. That the term of his office of said clerk

the duties of his office, he shall give bond to the
State of Maryland, in the penalty of twenty
thousand dollars, with at least two good sureties,
conditioned that he will truly and faithfully per-
form all and singular the duties of him required,
or which may be required by the constitution
and laws of this state, which said bond, to be
approved by the county commissioners, shall be
filed in the office of the clerk of the circuit court
for said county, a certified copy of which shall
be sufficient evidence against him, and his books
shall at all times be open to inspection by the
county commissioners or any taxpayer of the
said county.
SEC. 7. That it shall be the duty of the clerk

first day of August in the year eighteen hundred
and eighty-nine, and in each and every year
thereafter, to deliver to each collector a copy of
the assessment of his collection district, with
the rate of taxes for said year, and the aggre-
gate amount placed in his hands for collection.

SEC. 8. That the annual levy made by the
county commissioners shall be due and payable
