Chapter 134.
AN ACT to encourage the destruction of hawks
in Baltimore county.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
|
|

bly of Maryland, That every person, who is an
actual resident of Baltimore county, shall be en-
titled to an allowance from the county of fifty
cents (50) for every hawk taken and killed by him
within the limits of said county.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That any person kill-

ing any of the birds of prey mentioned in the
preceding section of this act, shall produce the
head of the same before some justice of the peace
of said county, and make oath that the said bird
of prey was taken and killed within the limits of
Baltimore county, within six days then preced-
ing, and the justice shall thereupon give such

person a certificate, wherein he shall set forth
the said oath, and shall, at the same time, cut
off the beaks from the heads of said birds of prey,
so as to prevent a second allowance.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That no justice of

for the taking of such oath or the issuing of each
certificate.
SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the county com-

missioners of Baltimore county are hereby au-
thorized and empowered, in their discretion, if
they think proper, to pay said sum of fifty cents
for each and every hawk, as shown in said cer-
tificate to have been killed within the limits of
Baltimore county.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.
