Chapter. 118.

AN ACT to provide for the erection of memorial
tablets or monuments to suitably mark the
position occupied by the various Maryland
military organizations serving with the army
of the Potomac on the battle-field of Gettys-
burg in the battle of Gettysburg, and to make
a suitable appropriation therefor.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, That the governor shall, within

thirty days after the passage of this act, appoint
five discreet citizens of the State of Maryland as
commissioners of the state to carry out the pro-
visions of this act, as hereinafter provided, and
who shall serve without pay, and whose duty it
shall be to select and decide upon the design and
material for tablets or monuments to mark the
position of each Maryland command serving

Eastern Shore infantry; the first regiment of
Potomac Home Brigade, infantry ; the third
regiment of Maryland infantry ; the first regi-
